ISPI Overview and Usage
ISPI starts off as a session directory tool listing all session similar to SDR. It keeps adding more sessions as and when they are advertised. In order to see information about a particular session, the user must type in the sesion number at the command prompt.The session entry could have a:
“o” in front indicating that it is an ongoing session.
Following the session number is the media format of the session;
The user can create a manual entry by typing 'm' at the command prompt and entring the required parameters in the dialog box. If the user has established a reservation state for a session it is indicated by a “r” in front of the session entry.
In order to see the RTP performance of a particular multicast session the user must type “A” or “V” depending upon the media of the stream. This shows a list of all senders for that particluar session. The user can enter the sender number and that will lead to a screen displaying the performance of all receivers for that particular sender. In order to see the performance of a single receiver the user can type the receiver number at the command prompt. The user can type 'u' to go back a level of screens and 'j' to jump back to the session entry (initial) screen.
ISPI Monitor Single Receiver Screen
Once the user has selected a session he can also use the RSVP related functions of ISPI. In order to view the path messages received for the session the user needs to type 'T' at the command prompt. 'L' displays the local reservation and 'R' traces reservations back to the sources based on the previous hop entry in the path messages. The user can designate the machine on which ISPI is running as a sender and send out path messages by using the command 'E' and entering the required Tspec details.
In order to make reservations use the 'M' (make reservation) command. This brings up a screen with the Tspecs of all senders. In order to make a "wildcard filter" reservation the user needs to type the flowspecs on the last line labeled Reservation Parameters. To make a "Fixed Filter" style of reservation the user must select the required senders by typing an 'x' in the selection(s) column and also enter the appropriate flowspecs. If the user wants a "Shared-Explicit" style of reservation he must select hosts by marking an 'x' in the group column and a 'x' in the selection column for the row which will be used for flowspecs. Cuurently after each RSVP related command the user must go back to the previous screen ('u') before issuing the next command. The user can also monitor reservations on another host and trace reservations from that host by using the host to monitor ('H') command.
