A message from the Biometric Consortium (BC) and the Conference Co-Chairs

As many of you know, the BC Conference planned for September 12-14, 2001, was postponed because of the tragic events of September 11. Many of the speakers scheduled for BC2001 have committed to the program of the re-scheduled conference on February 13-15, 2002. The conference will cover topics related to the utilization of biometric solutions for homeland security including improving airport security, strengthening our national borders, utilizing biometrics for travel documents, visas and for preventing ID theft as well as accelerating biometric standards developments. In addition, most of the sessions planned for BC2001 will be included. Many organizations that were planning to exhibit in BC2001 and some new ones have also committed to provide technology demonstrations at the re-scheduled conference. Now, more than ever there is a wide range of interest in biometrics across the federal/state/ local governments. Congressional offices and a large number of organizations involved in many markets are addressing the important role that biometrics will play on identifying and verifying the identity of individuals and protecting national assets. We want to thank the sponsoring organizations, speakers and exhibitors and other organizations that have contributed to the organization of this conference.
