There are three identifiable systems required to run this
environment. They are the VistA server, authentication proxy server,
and client workstation.
- The VistA Server must have broker installed but need not be an NT system. Development was done on Cache running on NT. It has been successfully tested on VAX installations.
- Authentication proxy server must be an NT system. This system must be able to get a TCP/IP connection to the VistA server and must be part of the VISN NT domain.
- Client workstation must be an NT system (typically NT Workstation) that is part of a local Hospital NT domain or VISN domain.
The authentication proxy can run on the same NT system as the VistA Server or on an NT box that is under the administrative control of the VistA Server manager. The management of the VistA Server must trust the management of the box hosting the authentication proxy.
