Background and Data

Generation

This data set was collected by NIST chemist Radu Mavrodineaunu in the 1970's from an automatic data acquisition system for a filter transmittance experiment. The response variable is transmittance.

The motivation for studying this data set is to show how the underlying autocorrelation structure in a relatively small data set helped the scientist detect problems with his automatic data acquisition system.
