Recently some new concepts have been introduced, and several problems have been investigated, related to principal component analysis. Research in this direction has been motivated by specific applications. In this talk, I will review some of the recent work in this area. The topics reviewed will include: common principal components analysis, common subspace analysis, principal points and archetypes. I will also describe the applied problems that motivated the investigation of the above topics.
