Overview of Secondary Storage Technologies
& Demonstration of Storage Technology Evaluator

Rich Vining highlighted advantages and disadvantages of secondary storage technologies as well as their cost per GB. Technologies were compared for particular applications and their capabilities in longevity, access, portability, system/media cost, integrity and so on. Following his presentation, Rich demonstrated a tool that he developed to help agencies in choosing an optimum storage technology appropiate for their data storage profile.
