ITL’s Chang receives INCITS Technical Excellence
Award for 2003
Wo Chang of the Information Access Division has
received the InterNational Committee for Information Technology Standards
(INCITS) Technical Excellence Award for 2003.
He will be honored for his hard work and contributions to standards
development for MPEG at the Technical Committee Officers’Awards Dinner on April
28, 2004.
Chang is recognized for his invaluable contribution to the success of the INCITS L3.1 MPEG program (which covers all MPEG standards including MPEG-1/-2/-4/-7/-21 and Advanced Video Codec as a joint project between the International Standards Organization (ISO) and the International Telecommunications Union (ITU)). His dedication, knowledge, and willingness to resolve issues were cited as “key to the success of MPEG”. Chang has served as chairman and co-chairman for many MPEG-7 groups since 1999 and currently is the chairman for the MPEG-7 Interoperability and Profiles Group, chairman for the Multimedia Application Format Group, and the project editor of the MPEG-7 Profiles and Levels which will become the international standard in Summer 2004.
