Sharon Laskowski,
Information Access Division, participated in a panel on voting and usability at
the Usability Professionals Association 13th Annual Conference in
June 2004, in Minneapolis, Minn.
Laskowski spoke on “Can Usability Save Democracy? Voting, Usability, and
e-Participation.” In the talk, she
presented her findings and recommendations for improving the usability and
accessibility of voting systems.
Laskowski is the author of NIST Special Publication 500-256, Improving
the Usability and Accessibility of Voting Systems and Products. Co-authors of the document are

Theofanos and Janice Redish presented a talk on “Achieving Experience Equity
and Universal Usable Access: Research
Results and an Innovative Future.” The
