Previously, she was the Manager of the National Cancer Institute's Communication Technologies Research Center, a state-of-the-art usability testing facility for web sites, applications, and emerging technologies where her research focused on the intersection of accessibility and usability. Mary spent 15 years as a program manager for software technology at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory complex of the U.S. Department of Energy. Mary has a B.S. in mathematics from the University of Richmond , an M.S. in computer science from the University of Virginia , and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in software engineering at George Mason University, working on her dissertation. |

Mary Theofanos is a Computer Scientist in the Visualization and Usability Group of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) where she is working on the Industry Usability Reporting Project and the Common Industry Format for Usability Test Reports, developing standards for usability.
