Instructions for Restoring the Map Navigation Experiment Data
The Map Navigation Experiment data were logged using the MITRE
Multi-Modal Logger, a tool for recording, retrieving, annotating and
visualizing data collected about human-computer and human-human collaborative
interactions. The logger embodies a database structure which groups datapoints
by application, and applications by session. The logger also provides a
set of tools for reviewing and annotating data collected via instrumentations.
To view these data in logger format, a database needs to be created,
and the data need to be restored. To restore the data:
-
You must have a version of the MITRE
Multi-Modal Logger which can be dowloaded for free.
-
Put the mlogger
utility in your path.
-
Uncompress and extract the files in the data archive. MAKE THIS A
LINK
-
Run the data restoration script provided. To do this, you must be
in the data archive directory.
As an example, to restore the g11 data, type
> ./restore_g11 <full path to new location>
The data can now be manipulated with the MITRE
Multi-Modal Logger and the Annotate-Session
tool. The Annotate-Session
tool is a visualization tool which also provides replay capability.
For help in looking at the data, see Viewing
and Annotating Logger Data.
