Information Technology Laboratory

Introduction

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is creating the Information Technology Laboratory in response to the growing need for an advanced infrastructure to support the information technology (IT) industry. This need has come into sharper focus in recent years with the national effort to develop an infrastructure to support a global information marketplace.

When the Information Technology Laboratory is formed, it will include two current NIST organizations: the Computer Systems Laboratory (CSL) and the Computing and Applied Mathematics Laboratory (CAML)
